Hello, my names Katrice Jacobs, I live in Sacramento, California and attend Antelope High as a Junior. Recently I applied to go abroad for a semester next year (2012) which I then would depart sometime in the summer. I applied through AFS intercultural student exchange proram.
There are so many beautiful countries in the world that it's almost impossible to just choose one. But I have came up with a few places I would like to go. One being Argentina because from what I have read it seems like it would be a great experience, Panama also seems nice because there's a strong spanish influence and I am enlightened by the spanish culture therefore a South American country would be one of my top choices. Being that I have never been out the country, let alone California this would be a dream come true for me. I have alwways dreamed of something bigger than me and I know this would be it. I always wanted to travel and view the world and the different backgrounds there are. Its one thing to read about it but another to see it.
The only thing holding me back is the lack of money. I come from a family of six, so money is already a problem enough. When I told my mom about this oppurtunity she wanted nothing more than to help me, because she saw that this would be an amazing experience for me. All I'm asking for is a little help, as of right now I'm starting some other fundraisers, and anything will help. I will need approximately about 3,000 the other money I will be getting from some family members. I know this is alot to ask for, but anything will help even a dollar. If you, or someone you know can help it will be greatly appreciated. Even advice on different things I can do for fundraising will be helpful.
